A University of Hawaii team is digitizing and cataloging tens of thousands of plant specimens in order to preserve and improve access to the collection at the Joseph Rock Herbarium. The Herbarium was established over a century ago and his home to many rare specimens from Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. Professor Karolina Heyduk says the goal of the project is to get all 55 thousand plant specimens digitized for the whole world to see and facilitate research on the Hawaiian plants across the globe.
