The Hawaii Department of Transportation says a printing error is affecting some driver’s licenses and state ID cards that were issued in February. Officials say the incorrect printing of the large “Hawaii” text on the front of the cards is supposed to be in script font but instead they were printed with a sans serif font. This was reportedly caused by a hardware change by the card vendor, Thales. A total of 2,450 misprinted credentials were mailed out including only 121 in Kauai. The credentials can be used normally because all the proper security features are in place, and replacements can be issued at no cost.
