Hawaii has been awarded more than seven million dollars in federal funds for restoration and recovery projects on military training instillations on Oahu, Kauai, and Hawaii Island. The 7.1 million in funding under the Environmental Integration Program will be dedicated to protecting and restoring rare species of plants and animals found only in Hawaii. The funding will also go toward efforts to remove invasive species. Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands is set to receive funding for detecting and managing high-impact aquatic and terrestrial invasive species.
