Kauai is being invaded by red fire ants. Officials say the discovery of millions of the insects marks the most extensive infestation since the species was first detected on the island in 1999. Heather Forester, who works for the Hawaii Ant Lab says the bugs can rain down on people and sting them and that there have been a lot of reports of them stinging people while they sleep, leaving welts that the Kauai Invasive Species Committee says can last for weeks.
