The Hawaii Department of Transportation will declare a traffic emergency zone on Kuhio Highway near mile point 4.3, at Waikoko, for emergency shoreline mitigation work. The emergency declaration allows HDOT to expedite a permit to begin improvements to protect access to the state highway. The emergency shoreline work is expected to take about 3 to 4 weeks and crews will be working daily.
