Starting May 1st, hours of operation at lifeguarded beaches will extend to 10 hours, from 8 am to 6 pm. The Ocean Safety Bureau says the extended hours will enhance safety by reducing the number of drownings and aquatic injuries across the island. Kauai will be the first county to have these full-time extended hours of coverage.
