Over 40 new conservation officers will join the ranks across Hawaii. 42 recruits have been receiving intensive classroom instruction for the past seven months. Physical training was done Friday morning on Oahu’s north shore as the recruits made a three-and-a-half mile run and walk to the Peacock Flats campground. Classroom training ends in a few weeks and then the recruits will rotate through a series of field training exercises focusing on ocean safety, watercraft and ATV/off-road operations.
