The County of Kauai, in partnership with EAH Housing and the Ahe Group, announced Thursday that applications for an affordable housing project are now open.
The project called Kai Olino Family Apartments in Eleele began accepting applications Thursday for its first building, with the deadline being set for Monday.
Officials said Kai Olino Family Apartments features 73 multifamily apartments and are offering two- and three-bedroom units.
The first 250 applications for each building will be included in their respective lotteries. Those that apply after will be put on a waitlist. Interested applicants must apply separately for each lottery pool, officials said.
Following Monday’s deadline, a lottery will be held on Zoom on Tuesday.
The nonprofit said project has been troubled with long delays due to a fire, but it expects the first residents to move into the units in two weeks.
Applications for the second building, which includes 27 units have begun taking applications as well. The deadline for the second building is April 7, with a lottery following the next day, officials said.
A third lottery will be held in early 2026 for the final 23-unit building, officials said.
