The Kauai Police Department is expanding its fleet with ten new police-rated pickup trucks. News outlets report the production of the department’s current police cruiser, the Ford Police Interceptor Unit, was stopped due to supply chain constraints caused by the pandemic so KPD acquired Chevy Silverados. KPD is the first police department in the state of Hawaii to aquire the Silverado PPV. Chief Todd Raybuck says the new trucks are more capable off pavement, enabling officers to reach remote areas quickly and provide additional support during harsh weather conditions.
