Kauai police officers are sporting a new redesigned commemorative badge as part of its 80th anniversary. The special edition shield is dedicated to the department’s staff and heroes over the last eight decades, paying homage to the original Kauai County Sheriff badge in 1943. This is the first time the department has issued an anniversary badge to employees and retirees. Police Chief Todd Raybuck says the department aims to start a new tradition by adopting commemorative badges marking major anniversaries.
