Mayor Kawakami has signed a bill amending construction design standards to incorporate expected sea level rise impacts. The mayor called it a truly historic day, making Kauai one of the first counties in the nation to enact development regulations based on scientific modeling projections. The Kauai County Council unanimously approved the measure two weeks ago.
