A live snake was captured at a home deport on O’ahu Wednesday.  Honolulu police responded to the store after employees reported using a bucket to capture the non-venomous gopher snake found on a pallet in a shipping container.  Snakes are illegal to possess in Hawaii.  If you’re aware of any illegal animals call the statewide toll free pest hotline at 808-643-PEST.

The Hawaii Department of Health has received 357 doses of a vaccine used to prevent monkey pox.  Kaua’i Now reports the DOH received its allocation from the Strategic National Stockpile and will continue receiving allocations as supply becomes available.  The federal government expects more than 1.6 million doses to be made available nationwide this year.

Kaua’i County public works reminds the public they do not accept bottle caps at redemption centers or in Kaua’i Recycles green drop bins.  The bottlecaps are not part of the HI5 beverage program segregated rate and can’t be processed accurately because of new markings on certain drink containers.  Ignore phrases that say “recycle bottle with cap on” and do not recycle the cap.
