Vidinha Stadium to be closed for construction March 7 to December 2025
LĪHU‘E – The Department of Parks and Recreation is announcing that Vidinha Stadium will be closed beginning this Friday for the Vidinha Stadium Improvements Project, Phase 1 – field, track, and video board.
“This project would not have been possible without the collaboration of the County Council, State legislators, the Hawai‘i Department of Education, Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation, our dedicated County staff and contractors, and the many partners who contributed to its success,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this vision a reality. These upgrades will ensure that our community will have access to a world-class facility that promotes recreation, fitness, and healthy living.”
Contracted by Co-Ha Builders Inc. dba Applied Surfacing Technology, in collaboration with the Fukunaga & Associates Inc. engineering company, the project will break ground on Friday, March 7, and is estimated to be completed by December 2025. Vidinha Stadium will be closed for the duration of the improvement project.
The scope of the $12.2 million project includes the demolition and removal of the existing field, track, track implements, and scoreboard. Additionally, it includes the installation of a synthetic turf field, synthetic track, new track implements, and video board.
