County of Kauai is working to advance a Wildfire Home Assessment Program. The program is designed to help residents reduce wildfire risk. The program is in partnership with the Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization. The voluntary, on-site evaluations will focus on defensive space and vegetation management, home hardening strategies to reduce ember intrusion, property access, evacuation considerations, and site-specific wildfire risks. The program is scheduled to launch on August 1.
