A waiver is being offered for commercial drivers during the DMV outage in Kauai. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has granted a three-month waiver to help commercial drivers and their employers while driver’s license services remain unavailable after the fire at the county’s DMV building. The waiver allows the state and County of Kauai Division of Motor Vehicles to extend commercial driver’s licenses and commercial learner’s permits that are due for renewal on or after September 9. The waiver will remain in effect until December 8 or 14 days after DMV services are restored on Kauai, whichever is sooner.
