Police Ask For Help/Ige and Covid Updates

Kaua’i police are looking to the public for help identifying a female seen on video stealing several items from a home in Lihu’e.  Surveillance cameras captured the unidentified female at a home on Fujii Street in mid-June taking several items from the carport including gas cans and yard tools.  If you have any information call KPD or submit a tip online at cskauai.org.

The state Department of Health reported nearly 44 hundred new cases of COVID-19 throughout Hawaii in the most recent count last Wednesday.  Kaua’i has seen a total of 15 thousand 867 new cases since the pandemic began according to the DOH website.  About 200 people statewide are currently hospitalized.

Governor Ige is set to sign the state budget bill today.  He also has line-item vetoed all appropriations for the Federal American Rescue Plan Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds in part because the legislature over-appropriated the funds by over 104 million dollars.  He also wants those recovery funds reallocated to the Hawaiian Tourism Authority.
