A trip to the beach turned into a tragedy for a Navy family stationed at the Pacific Missile Range Facility.
Master-at-Arms 1st Class Jeffrey Diaz died Sunday, just one day before his 48th birthday. Diaz drowned while trying to save his two sons from rough surf. The children did survive.
In addition to his children, Diaz also leaves behind two older children and a grandchild.
