Kauai Police Department announces free car-seat safety checks in June. KPD will conduct the checks in the Walmart parking lot on Kuhio Highway in Lihue on June 13 and June 27 from 9 AM until Noon. Certified child safety seat technicians will inspect your car’s safety seat free of charge. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says parents and caregivers believe they know how to install car seats correctly, but only about 46-percent have installed their child’s car seat incorrectly.
