AARP donates to Rice Street/Rodeo Returns

A Kaua’i organization will receive a portion of nearly 50 thousand dollars in grant funds from the 2022 AARP Community Challenge.  Kauai Now reports Rice Street Business Association was awarded 20 thousand dollars to create Complete Streets, placemaking and public art projects in Lihue.  The projects include rainbow crosswalk art, bus shelter murals, wi-fi hot spots, native street trees, and community gardens.

The Paniolo Heritage Rodeo returns for the 21st time this weekend.  The event, sponsored in part by the Hawaii Tourism Authority through the Community Enrichment program, serves as a kickoff to the Koloa Plantation Days.  The rodeo is Friday to Sunday.  Gates open at 4 PM Friday and Saturday and 11 AM Sunday.  It’s 10 dollars for adults, and kids 18 and younger get in free.  Parking is also free.
