Marine Sanctuary Meeting/South Side Road Repair

The public is invited to attend an online meeting of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary advisory council next week.  Kauai Now reports the sanctuary’s advisory council will meet from 8 AM to 2:30 PM Thursday, July 28th, via Google Meet.  The public will have the opportunity to comment at 1 PM.  Registration is available online.  For more information about the sanctuary, visit hawaiihumpbackwhale.noaa.gov.

Mayor Kawakami joined Department of Public Works crews Tuesday to patch a portion of Ho-one Road damaged by a historic south swell over the weekend.  Roadwork was completed by Tuesday afternoon.  The County of Kauai  is still assessing damages caused by the south swell.  For updated information on ocean and weather alerts, visit the NWS website, www.weather.gov/hfo.
