Sinclair Indicted

Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like announced today that a Kauaʻi grand jury has returned an indictment charging William Robert Sinclair, 51, of Kilauea with 28 counts.

Those charges include the following:

  • Murder in the Second Degree
  • 2 Counts of Carrying or Use of Firearm in the Commission of a Separate Felony
  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
  • 21 Counts of Ownership or Possession Prohibited
  • 3 Counts of Possession of Prohibited Firearm or Silencer

The Indictment alleges that on or about June 5, 2026, Sinclair did intentionally or knowingly cause the death of Sergio Reyes Hernandez. It further alleges that on or about June 6, 2026, Sinclair engaged in conduct which under the circumstances as he believed them to be constituted a substantial step in a course of conduct intended to cause the death of another individual.

The Indictment also charges Sinclair with possessing 20 firearms, 3 suppressors and ammunition that he is prohibited from possessing as a person who has been convicted of having committed a felony.

The Indictment also subjects Sinclair to possible extended sentencing as a multiple offender.
