County of Kauai is closely monitoring the Waimea River mouth. The river’s outlet has shifted westward and is now flowing along the beach closer to nearby homes and property. On Sunday, the Kauai Emergency Management Agency request assistance from the state of Hawaii. The county is looking for engineering, regulatory, and operational support form the state. Kauai Police Department is using a drone to assist with assessment, mapping, and monitoring. No reports of injuries, evacuations, or property damage at this time.
